Acne Questions

I have found that using products with alcohol like your toner irritates my face making my acne worse. I would like to try Clearogen but am afraid to use the toner. What do you recommed? Should I try it anyways or skip the toner or use a toner from a different brand?

Dear Jo Ann

You may use other toners while using Clearogen but the alcohol content in Clearogen is not very high. Therefore you should not have problems with use of Clearogen Toner.

Can I apply make-up after using Clearogen?
By
Safaa

View Answer

Dear Safaa

Yes you can apply make-up after using Clearogen in the morning. Make sure that the Clearogen product is completely dry before you apply your foundation. If you are going to be outside it is recommended that you use a sunscreen as well. Clearogen should be used only once daily to prevent overdrying and irritation. If you use Clearogen in the morning to cleanse before your make-up we recommend a gentle cleanser called Cetaphil to cleanse your face in the evening.

Do I need to use any other Mosturizer in the Mornings? If so whats the best type? Also can you recommend an Acne friendly Make-up?

Dear Aoife

In the morning we prefer that you use a moisturizer with sunscreen. You may use any brand as long as it is non-comedogenic. The mineral makeups are generally the best makeups to use on acne prone skin.

I recently did a PDT treatment because my acne wasn’t getting better. At the doctor’s office they gave a lotion for acne. Is it ok to use Clearogen instead? Also, is it ok to use two different products at morning and night?
By
Juyoung

View Answer

Dear Juyoung

You may use Clearogen and discontinue your PDT treatment. We would prefer that you use the Clearogen Cleanser and Toner in the AM and the Clearogen Lotion in the PM. This will prevent you from getting irritated. To control your dryness further you may use a moisturizing sunscreen in the AM.

How much of the acne lotion should I use at a time? What are the effects if I use too much?
By
Tuin

View Answer

Dear Tuin

One full pump of the lotion should be enough for your whole face. Be cautious of using much more because it may cause irritation if you over do it. Using too much of the toner will cause irritation. If you are applying directly to pimples-just use the amount of lotion that is the same size of the pimple.

Dr. Khadavi

Why is clearogen only supposed to be used once a day?If the DHT blocker is in the lotion wouldn’t it work better if it was used twice a day to provide a better coverage?

Dear Jennifer

In our clinical trials we tested once daily application. You may use each of the steps more than once daily but make sure that your skin does not become irritated from over use.

I have been using this product for almost three weeks…results are slow but its definitely working. I wear eye make-up that I wash off at night…Can I use the kit nightly instead of daily? Also, could part of my skin problem be that I do my homework in front of a heater? Can I use it nightly instead of daily?

Dear Lucille

You may use Clearogen only at night time but you must use all the three steps at that time. Generally heat dose not exacerbate acne but try to keep a distance from the heating device.

I have sensitive skin. I want to try this product but I’m afraid it will dry it out my skin. I’ve used many products, including Proactive, without any results. Please help.

Dear Mary Ann

Clearogen uses Benzoyl Peroxide packaged in special delivery micro capsules that deliver the active ingredients to your skin at a very low rate and over time. This gradual delivery system prevents drying and is much better tolerated in those with sensetive skin. It also works better to treat acne by constantly relasing the actives through out the day giving you a better coverage and results.

My son has developed cystic acne which has actually ulcerated on his chest. We are about to start a course of Accutane which I am extremely reluctant to do because of the side effects. How does your product compare with Accutane as far as results go for this type of acne?
By
Betty

View Answer

Dear Betty

Accutane is a good medication and it works. It permanently shrinks the oil glands so they don’t produce too much oil, get clogged and ultimately infected (otherwise known as the acne lesion). As you pointed out, it does have unwanted side effects that may affect your son. Clearogen is not a permanent treatment like Accutane, but it also reduces the oil production stopping acne from reoccurring as long as it is used. If you decide to use Clearogen you should ask your doctor to also prescribe a short course of antibiotics to dry out the cysts.

My birth control pill is causing me to breakout. I have tried many things, but the acne will not go away. Please tell me what should I do. I’m am about to just stop taking birth control.
By
Sana

View Answer

Dear Sana

You shouldn’t stop using your birth control pill without discussing it with your physician. Meanwhile, it is very apparent that the birth control you are using is not suitable to you skin.It is producing more androgens leading to acne. Tell your physician what you have experienced and ask him/her to prescribe another brand for you that has LOW ANDROGENIC INDEX. Using Clearogen will also combat your hormonal acne topically. The natural ingredients in Clearogen have been proven to reduce the production and block the attachement of androgens that cause acne. By doing so your skin’s oil production normalizes preventing new acne while acne medications in Clearogen treat and clear your exisiting acne.

I have been using the system for about two weeks. I see a little improvement, but I see a lot of dry skin and additional wrinkling. I am 75 years old. I guess the oil in my face has kept me from wrinkling too badly. Is there a moisturizer that you recommend? Or should I use the products less frequently?

Dear Shirley

If your skin is getting too dry cut back on the toner. Clearogen should not be making your wrinkles any more noticeable.

I’ve been using Clearogen for approximately 12 days and I have 2 new pimples! Is this normal? I thought that the DHT as well as the other natural ingredients is supposed to control breakouts but instead I got 2 new pimples
By
Irma

View Answer

Dear Irma

It takes about 30 days for the product to show its benefit. Before then you may experience small breakouts as you explained. DHT is the cause of acne not its treatment. The natural ingredients in Clearogen block DHT to break the cycle of acne formation.

Should I pop my pimple? I have little bumps all over my face that have not turned red yet. PLEAS HELP!I have heard of using toothpaste.
By
Cara

View Answer

Dear Cara

Don’t use toothpaste and do not pop the pimples. Popping pimples can spread the bacteria to the rest of your face. It is best to use an acne product and let the pimple go away that way not by popping them.

How does the Clearogen attack DHT?
By
James

View Answer

Dear James

Clearogen reduces the conversion of Testosterone to DHT by inhibiting 5-alpha-reductase and blocking the attachment of DHT to sebaceous gland of the skin.

Dr. Khadavi

If Clearogen is effective in blocking the conversion of testosterone to DHT is it also effective in preventing male pattern (terminal) hair growth in females?
By
Audrey

View Answer

Dear Audrey

Excessive facial hair in women also known as hirsutism is related to DHT. If you are using Clearogen for your acne it can also help reduce excessive facial hair by reducing DHT that causes it, but I don’t recommend it as a sthand alone treatment for hirsutism. Removing the unwanted hairs using lasers or other cosmetic and medical procedures is a much faster and surest way to get rid of these hairs. We also have developed a hair loss treatment called Revivogen (please see www.Revivogen.com) that treats Female Pattern Hair Loss topically with use of anti-DHT natural ingredients.

On some individuals not all stress and greasy foods or chocolate makes them breakout. It is best to reduce these negative factors (maybe not chocolate because we all love chocolate) in our lives.

I am very happy with the current acne treatments I am using. However, I still have a very oily nose. Which one of your products can I use individually to help reduce the oil on my nose?
By
Peter

View Answer

Dear Peter

You must use Clearogen Acne Lotion as it has most of the anti-DHT ingredients. You may also use the toner which has the same ingredients but to a lesser degree. For maximum benefit you should use the toner and the lotion together.

The oldest adults I’ve seen in the adult acne and testamonials are in their late thirties. No mention of people in their 40s and above. I am almost 60. Will Clearogen help me?
By
Noel

View Answer

Dear Noel

The cause of acne is the same regardless of age sex race etc. Simply your own hormones cause your oil glands to produce more than normal oil that leads to clogging of the pores (whiteheads and blackheads) which become infected and result in acne lesions.Since Clearogen addresses the cause of acne it would work regardless of age, sex, ect. However you can put Clearogen to the test and if it does not work for you within 60 days return it for a full return.

I have body acne. I’ve tried Proactive, Retin, Differin and a ton of antibiotics. They help for a short period of time. It’s been almost 10 years now. What are your thoughts and suggestions?
By
Jed

View Answer

Dear Jed

All the medications you mentioned including Benzoyl Peroxide are great for clearing existing acne, but fail over time. This is because they don’t address the actual cause of acne which are the hormones forcing your oil glands to produce excessive amounts of oil. The excess oil clogs the pores and builds up under the skin creating a great environment and food source for the bacteria that causacne. Clearogen goes one step beyond traditional acne treatments and blocks the hormones to normalize your skin’s oil production. By addressing the root cause of acne Clearogen stops the cycle of acne formation. If you have normal acne Clearogen can work for you but if you have cysts and boils you need another course of antibiotics to dry out the infection while using Clearogen to prevent new ones.
